A large contingent of ACGG participants from JLU, JKI and UQ, including a total of 8 PhD students from Australia and Germany, attended the 11th International Conference on Legume Genetics and Genomics (ICLGG) at the Brisbane Convention Centre in October 2024. The location of the conference provided a perfect opportunity to also visit UQ after the conference for workshop activities and discussions. The group was joined by further ACGG students who had attended the International Wheat Congress in Perth the previous week.
Once again our ACGG students enjoyed a remarkably successful conference, with a number of excellent oral and poster presentations. Caitlin Dudley from UQ won the best student oral presentation award, while Shanice van Haften (UQ) won the best student poster award and Mamunur Rashid (JLU) won the "ICLGG Engagement Competition".
The participants also had the opportunity to visit UQ's impressive new "Plant Futures Facility" at the St. Lucia campus and enjoy some free time over a holiday weekend with sightseeing opportunities in the southern Queensland sun.
